New project: Too hot to Händel
Too Hot to Händel is an innovative concert performance of the husband and wife duo KaplanSynthetic. It presents vocal and instrumental works by Georg Friedrich Händel, a major composer of the High Baroque, played electronically. Renowned czech soprano, artistic leader of Victoria Ensemble and musicologist Viktorie Kaplanová has a lifelong interest in Baroque music and its historically informed interpretation. The accompaniment is created and produced by Kryštof Kaplan, who is a prominent figure in the field of czech electronic music. He assigns unexpected synthesizer sounds to the individual parts of Händel’s works, which open up completely new interpretative world. Thanks to them it is possible to underline the action in the text, while maintaining the principles of Baroque music to emphasize the whole range of emotions. The vocal pieces are interspersed with distinctive instrumental pieces, creating a coherent musical surface, offering an exploratory dialogue between Baroque and contemporary.
